Civil Marriage Ceremonies
Northover Manor is approved for Civil Marriage Ceremonies. As soon as you have made provisional arrangements for the date and time on which you wish to be married you are advised to contact the Superintendent Registrar for the district. Please note that without the presence of the Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar there can be no marriage. It is essential that you immediately make a booking with the Registrars for attendance at the proposed marriage.
Non-Religious Ceremony
We must advise you that only a civil, non religious ceremony can be permitted by the Superintendent Registrar. Any music, reading, words or performance which, form part of the ceremony must be secular, and the content of the ceremony must be agreed in advance with the Registrar.
Prior to and after the ceremony
By law we are unable to serve alcohol in the marriage room for one hour prior to the service.
After the ceremony we suggest that you allow approximately an hour – to an hour and a half for photographs (this will depend on the size of your party and the number of photographs you anticipate being taken). During this time we will serve a reception drink to your guests.
A formal sit down meal will take approximately two and a half to three hours to serve for between 50-80 guests. This includes the time taken for the cutting of the cake and for speeches (of a reasonable length!). If you intend to follow on with an evening reception you need to consider the timing of your ceremony in order to avoid feeling rushed.
Beverages and Bar
Drinks from the bar may either be charged to your wedding account or be paid by guests on a cash basis. We do take credit cards, but guests should be notified that the transaction must be over £10.00 – due to credit charges.

Corkage charges per bottle will only be charged on wine or champagne brought in by the wedding party as opposed to our own selection.

Please note: unless taking advantage of the exclusive use package, the maximum number of rooms we would allow to be provisionally booked would be 15.
However, if the wedding party could guarantee all rooms would be booked within a month of the deposit being placed we would be willing to book out all 21 rooms. If after a month these rooms are not occupied we would release them to outside guests.
General
We can advise on local companies to assist you in your wedding preparations, including stationers, car hire, photographers, videographers, florists etc. Please advise if you require any of this information.
Wine
We offer a comprehensive choice of wines to suit the day. The wine offered within our beverage package is our house red and white. However, should you prefer something alternative please discuss with us. Obviously this will have a cost implication.
Table Plan
A table plan and name cards are required for formal receptions. It is also helpful to have the menu choices written inside name cards to reduce any service delay.
Flowers & Floral Arrangements
These can be supplied by yourself, and delivered to the Northover either the day before or the morning of the wedding. We are happy to recommend florists and are willing to make arrangements on your behalf. Prices on request.
Table Linen
Coordinated table linen to match your requirements can be arranged by us. Prices on request.
